A Few Good Quotes

"There is something so settled and stodgy about turning a great romance into next of kin on an emergency room form, and something so soothing and special, too." ~ Anna Quindlen

"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.'" ~Mary Anne Radmacher

Cousins

Ruthie has 13 cousins - 12 on my side and 1 on Ian's. And she has two more on the way - one from each side. We are RICHLY blessed! Considering that she doesn't really do anything, she is surprisingly popular among her cousins.

Before Ian went back to work, we went to the Aquarium with Mary, Mike and their kids and happily, Rowan and Rob were there too! (Sorry for the bad photo quality - what can I say?)

Sam and Abbie came over the other day, to go for a walk to our neighborhood park. They had a lot of fun swinging Ruthie in the swing they are loaning us. Sam kept bringing her toys, hence the monkey on the handle.
Hannah is IN LOVE with Ruthie. She apparently talks about her all the time. So one day last week, Ruthie and I picked up Hannah and brought her back to our house for a little while (Sarah and Eric live really close - it's so great!). Hannah had quite the time entertaining Ruthie. Here they are, getting ready to go for a walk.
David and Gina's kids made it over to our house too, when the brought us In & Out for dinner. Yum! Plus, the two older kids got to hold our little girl. They were so cute with her!
Here is Joseph and Ruthie.
And Elena and Ruthie - I can't believe how much bigger Ruthie already looks and these pictures are only a few weeks old!
There are obviously more cousins than I have photos of, so rest assured, she is well-loved by them all. Having a big family nearby is so awesome!

  1. Just thought I'd give you fair warning--Hannah told me this morning that she was all better. She then paused (infintesimally, it is true) and said, "Now I can hold Rusie!!" She insisted on calling Ruthie to set up a time to meet later this week. I did manage to persuade her that Ruthie wasn't ready for the phone, but she remains (as is truly Hannah) undeterred about her plans to hold and kiss Ruthie. You have been informed. Establish your defenses as best as you can.

  2. Bring it on! Ruthie is up for the challenge, and so are we.
