A Few Good Quotes

"There is something so settled and stodgy about turning a great romance into next of kin on an emergency room form, and something so soothing and special, too." ~ Anna Quindlen

"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.'" ~Mary Anne Radmacher

The Tea

Every year, my mom hosts a spectacular Mother's Day Tea. This year, she really outdid herself. The theme was Cinderella and we had a "ball" to top all balls. All the little girls wore Cinderella dresses and all the adults wore fancy dresses, except my mom, who was the Fairy Grandmother. Don't worry, I included a picture of her so you could see her in all her glory. It was so wonderful and I love the tradition of spending this day with the women in my family.

Here is the table setting, which you can see is quite elaborate. We were all really wowed by everything when we walked in.
Then, at almost the end of the tea, we had a WONDERFUL surprise. All of our princes walked in with suits on and man, did they look handsome! I actually teared up. It was so fun. My dad (who always serves us during the tea) turned on the ball music and the men came filing out to the patio one by one. And then we learned a quick waltz step and got to dance with our husbands.

Here you can see Eric and Ian dipping me and Sarah (she's in the yellow dress). Very fun!

As promised, the Fairy Grandmother, with my little prince Jonah. Sadly we didn't have a tiny suit for him, but he still looked great in his button down shirt.
Here's all the granddaughters with the Fairy Grandmother!
There was lots of dancing by the little girls before the tea started. And somehow they knew just how to hold their dresses up in front of them so they wouldn't step on the hem. Too cute! This photo has Hannah, Sarah's oldest girl, and Clare, Mary's youngest girl, and Ruthie, in the back.
And here is Ruthie and me, meeting up to carpool at Sarah's house, on our way to the tea.

I hope all of you had a great Mother's Day. I am so thankful to be a mother and to have a mother nearby that I love spending time with. And hooray for fun teas!!
