A Few Good Quotes

"There is something so settled and stodgy about turning a great romance into next of kin on an emergency room form, and something so soothing and special, too." ~ Anna Quindlen

"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.'" ~Mary Anne Radmacher

Our Memorial Day

After a slow, quiet morning at home (see previous post), our family headed to La Mirada to swim in David and Gina's neighborhood pool with the rest of the fam. They are moving to Texas the middle of next month, so it was sort of our farewell to the pool, which our family has enjoyed a lot over the years.

Ruthie LOVES the pool. She thinks she can swim and frequently tries to "swim" out of our arms into the pool on her own. But we love her precocious and adventuresome spirit, even if it does cause her grandmother quite a bit of worry.

Speaking of grandmother, here is Ruthie and my mom swimming together. They had so much fun!
Which then freed Ian and me up to do some swimming together, which was lovely. When you are 9 months pregnant, there's not too much better than the weightless feeling of swimming. Especially when your husband is doing all the work. =)
And here is Ruthie, at my parents' house after swimming, where we had delicious brisket and amazing desserts.
How I wish everyday was a holiday! But soon, very soon, this baby will come and Ian will be home all summer and that will be wonderful.

Hope you had a great Memorial Day!

  2. They are moving back to Austin, but will probably have a short stay in San Antonio while they sort out job stuff. I heard you guys recently had a great week at the beach with the family. So fun!

  3. We did! It was fun for the kids to spend time with their grandparents and cousin. Only wish Michelle could have been there with Pat and Patterson too. So excited to know that David and Gina are headed back to Texas. I've loved to get a chance to see them and their crew.
